Steps to Becoming a Real Estate Agent in Dubai
Step 1: Obtain a Residency Visa (For Foreign Nationals)
Foreign nationals must first secure a residency visa to work in Dubai’s real estate market. This can be done through an employer or via sponsorship by a spouse already working in Dubai.
Step 2: Enroll in DREI Certified Training
Once your residency visa is in place, the next step is to complete the Certified Training for Real Estate Brokers from the Dubai Real Estate Institute,. This four-day course, approved by the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA), covers essential topics, including real estate history, broker responsibilities, sales and leasing processes, legal modules, and ethical guidelines. The course is available online or at the RERA training center.

Step 3: Pass the RERA Exam
After completing the DREI training, candidates must pass the RERA registration exam. The exam fee depends on your educational background: AED 3200 for candidates with a bachelor’s degree and AED 6300 for non-degree holders. A passing score grants you eligibility for a realtor license.
Step 4: Obtain Your Realtor License
Upon passing the RERA exam, candidates can apply for a realtor license. Once all requirements are met, the Economic Department will issue the license, enabling you to work as a licensed real estate agent. Remember to renew your license one month before its expiration to avoid penalties.
